On Saturday, the Power of Freedom team took on Trek13, a 13-mile walk along Dorset's Jurassic Coast, in honour of Alzheimer's Society.

The event was about more than the walk. It was a chance to come together, test ourselves and raise money for a cause close to many hearts.

Together, the team raised £1,390 for Alzheimer's Society, supporting its work to help people living with dementia and their families.

Taking on the Jurassic Coast

The Trek13 route was as beautiful as it was demanding. Steep climbs, rugged cliff paths and miles of coastline tested everyone's stamina from the start.

The rain added to the challenge, but the team stayed motivated by encouraging one another.

A shared achievement

Everyone walked at their own pace, but team spirit meant that no one was left behind. Crossing the finish line together was a proud moment, and a reminder of what can be achieved with determination and support.

A few words from Ian Davies, IT Manager

"Crossing the finish line was a wonderful feeling. I'm not particularly fit, but completing the trek has inspired me to do more. Knowing I played a small part in raising money for Alzheimer's Society makes me feel very lucky."

Ian Davies, IT Manager at Freedom Health Insurance

Walking for a cause that matters

Dementia and Alzheimer's disease were the leading cause of death in England and Wales in 2022, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Alzheimer's Society supports people affected by dementia and funds research. By taking part in Trek13, the team were able to:

  • raise awareness of the impact of dementia, by joining a recognised challenge
  • contribute to services that provide care, guidance and resources for people living with dementia and their families
  • show commitment beyond the workplace, by supporting a national cause that reflects our focus on health and wellbeing

Celebrating our fundraising

Thanks to generous donations from colleagues, friends, family and supporters, the team raised £1,390 for Alzheimer's Society. Every donation will make a difference, and the team is grateful for the support that helped them beat their target.

Beyond the finish line

Trek13 was both a challenge and a privilege for those who took part. It gave colleagues the chance to step outside their comfort zones and support a charity making a real impact.

Everyone at Freedom Health Insurance is proud of the team's achievement. We look forward to supporting more health, wellbeing and community causes in the future.

Thank you to everyone who supported the team and donated. Your generosity helped make this achievement possible.
