Freedom Elite hospital list

Where Freedom Elite members can be treated, and how the standard hospital list compares with the optional London Plus extension.

The basics

How the hospital list works

Every Freedom Elite policy includes the standard hospital list. It covers private hospitals throughout the UK, apart from a small number of central London hospitals in the optional London Plus extension.

  • Hospitals in the UK's largest groupsIncluding Circle Health Group, Nuffield Health and Ramsay Health Care.
  • Regional independent hospitalsPrivate hospitals run outside the large groups.
  • NHS hospitalsIncluding NHS hospitals with private patient facilities.

The list does not name every hospital. A private hospital that is not listed is still included, as long as your claim is covered. The exceptions are London Plus and HCA Healthcare UK facilities.

Contact the claims helpline before treatment

Your claim must be approved before treatment starts. This is called pre-authorisation, and we will give you an authorisation code. If you do not contact us first, your claim may not be paid.

Call 01202 283 580, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, or email claims@fhi.co.uk.

Compare

Standard list and London Plus

London Plus is an optional extension for an additional premium. It adds the central London hospitals run by HCA Healthcare UK. Your certificate of insurance, the document that confirms your cover, shows whether you have it.

Good to know

NHS hospitals and mental health

You can be treated as a private patient in an NHS private patient unit or an NHS pay bed, which is a private bed in an NHS hospital. A pay bed may be no different from standard NHS accommodation, and availability is up to the hospital.

If you choose to be treated as an NHS patient instead, we pay the NHS cash benefit shown in your policy documents for each day or night in hospital, for treatment your policy covers.

Mental health cover is not included as standard with Freedom Elite. If your policy includes it, contact the claims helpline before any treatment. If we accept your claim, we will approve the hospital at that point. Read more about mental health cover with Freedom Elite.
