Key points

  • Freedom Digital GP is booked through the Kry app.
  • You need your Freedom Digital GP membership code, which is different from your policy number.
  • Children aged one and over who are named on your policy can use the service.
  • It is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 999.

What is Freedom Digital GP?

Freedom Digital GP lets eligible Freedom Health Insurance members speak to a GP by phone or video, using the Kry app. It is part of Freedom 360, our health and wellbeing toolkit, and you can use it straight away without approval from us.

It is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is seriously ill or injured, call 999.

What can a digital GP help with?

A digital GP can help with many everyday health concerns, such as infections, rashes, minor injuries and questions about ongoing symptoms. Where it is clinically appropriate, they can also:

  • arrange a private prescription
  • write a referral letter
  • give advice on next steps, including whether you should be seen in person

How do you register?

  1. Download the Kry app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Register using details that match your certificate of insurance exactly, then verify your identity.
  3. On the app home screen, tap Enter membership code and enter your Freedom Digital GP membership code.
  4. Book the next available clinician, or choose a time that suits you.

If you are new to Freedom Health Insurance, your account can take up to 5 working days to activate.

Where do you find your membership code?

Your membership code is in your welcome letter. It is not the same as your policy number.

If you cannot find it, you can look it up on the Freedom Digital GP page. Enter your policy number, which is on your certificate of insurance, and your membership code will be shown.

Can your family use it?

Yes. Children aged one and over who are named on your policy can use Freedom Digital GP. Kry does not treat babies under 12 months by video, so please seek face-to-face care for a baby under one.

Is prescribed medicine covered?

No. A digital GP can arrange a private prescription, but there is a non-refundable charge for the medicine and delivery. Medicine costs are not covered by your policy.

What if you have a problem registering?

First, check that the details you entered match your certificate of insurance exactly. If they do not match, registration will fail.

  • For help with the app, identity checks or booking: contact Kry support on 0203 870 3029 or support@kry.co.uk.
  • For help with your registration or membership: contact us on 01202 283 580 or freedomgp@fhi.co.uk.

Does a referral mean treatment is covered?

No. A referral from a digital GP does not confirm that further consultations, tests or treatment will be covered. Contact us before you have any treatment you want to claim for.
