On Saturday, the Power of Freedom took on Trek13, a 13-mile walk along Dorset's spectacular Jurrasic Coast in honour of the charity Alzeimer's Society. The event wasn't just about the walk, it was a chance to come together, test themselves, and raise funds for a cause close to many hearts.
Together, the team raised an impressive £1,390 for the Alzheimer's Society, supporting their work to help people living with dementia and their families.
Taking on the Jurassic Coast
The Trek13 route was as beautiful as it was demanding. With steep climbs, rugged cliff paths, and miles of coastline to cover, the challenge tested stamina from the very start. The rainy weather added to the difficulty, but the team stayed motivated by encouraging one another.
A Shared Achievement
Although everyone had their own pace, the team spirit meant that no one was left behind. Crossing the finish line together was a proud moment and a reminder of what can be achieved with determination and support.
A Few Words from Ian Davies, IT Manager
"Crossing the finish line was a wonderful feeling. I'm not particularly fit, but completing the trek has inspired me to do more. Knowing I played a small part in raising money for Alzheimer's Society makes me feel very lucky". - Ian Davies, IT Manager at Freedom Health Insurance
Walking for a Cause That Matters
Dementia is the UK's biggest killer, and the Alzheimer's Society is dedicated to supporting those affected while funding crucial research. By taking part in Trek13, the Power of Freedom were able to:
- Raise awareness of the impact of dementia by joining a recognised challenge that highlights the importance of research and community support.
- Contribute to vital services that provide care, guidance and resources for people living with dementia and their families.
- Show commitment beyond the workplace by supporting a national cause that reflects our values of health and wellbeing.
Celebrating Fundraising Success
Thanks to generous donations from colleagues, friends, family and supporters, the team raised £1,390 for the Alzheimer's Society. Every donation will make a difference, and the team is grateful for the support that helped them exceed their target.
Beyond the Finish Line
Trek13 was both a challenge and a privilege for those who took part. It gave colleagues the chance to step outside their comfort zones and support a charity making a real impact.
Everyone at Freedom Health Insurance is so proud of the Power of Freedom's achievement and looks forward to continuing to promote health, wellbeing and community causes in the future.
