How To Switch To Us

You can switch to Freedom Health Insurance if you already have private health cover with a different provider. If you would like to discuss options please use our online chat facility (bottom right corner) or give us a call on 0800 999 2013.

Freedom Your Choice:

Switching policies is unavailable for Freedom Your Choice plans, however you could get a new quote on a full medical underwriting or on a moratorium underwriting basis.

You can use our quote tool and buy your policy directly online, or fill in an application form and either email or post it back to us.

Freedom Elite:

You may be able to switch with no loss of underwriting by answering the following questions:
  1. Have you or any applicant had any consultations, investigations or treatment planned or pending in the next 12 months (NHS or Private)?
  2. Have you or any applicant had any consultations, investigations or treatment in the last 12 months (NHS or Private)?
  3. Have you or any applicant ever been treated for, diagnosed with, or advised that they have a heart condition, cancer or mental illness?

If you are able to answer ‘no’ to all these questions, Freedom Health Insurance will be able to offer cover on a continuation from your previous insurer without any loss of underwriting. To secure your starting date and to ensure a quick transition please download and complete the Freedom Elite application form and send it to [email protected] along with your existing health insurance certificate. You will then need to post both documents to our address

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions, please contact us on 0800 999 2013 to discuss your application. You may still be able to switch your health insurance policy and applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

If your current cover is on a Moratorium basis, we will transfer the start date of your previous Moratorium to the new plan. If your current cover is on a Full Medical Underwriting basis, we will transfer any personal exclusions applied by your previous insurer and we will not add further medical exclusions to your Freedom Elite plan.

Worldwide:

You may be able to switch from another international policy with no loss of underwriting by answering the following questions:

If you are able to answer “no” to the following questions, Freedom Health Insurance will offer cover on a continuation from your previous insurer with no further underwriting. To ensure a quick transition please complete the Freedom Worldwide application form and email it to [email protected] along with your existing health insurance certificate. You will then need to post both of them to our address.

If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions, Freedom may still be able to offer a continuation of your underwriting. Please contact us on 0800 999 2013 or via our contact form to check if you are eligible for switching your health insurance.

If your current cover is on a Moratorium basis, we will transfer the start date of your previous Moratorium to the new plan. If your current cover is on a Full Medical Underwriting basis, we will transfer any personal exclusions applied by your previous insurer and will not add further personal exclusions to the Freedom Worldwide plan.

Switching between products

You can also switch between Freedom Elite and Freedom Worldwide policies with no loss of underwriting. For example, if you take out a Freedom Elite policy in the UK and then you decide to move abroad, you can switch to Freedom Worldwide while living and working there and then revert to Freedom Elite when you return to the UK.
